Melissa McDevitt is a Vice President of Human Resources. In her role, she is accountable for enterprise Diversity & Inclusion, Talent and Performance Management and People Leadership. In addition she leads Technology for HR and Associate Marketing & Design. She is responsible for designing the company’s global diversity and inclusion strategy to build, develop and retain a workforce representative of the communities and customers Capital One serves to innovate better products, services and customer experiences. She is accountable for designing our global talent management and people leadership strategy to support and elevate our associates to do the best work of their lives. Melissa is energized by bringing together these critical elements of our culture delivered through technology and touchpoints that empowers the lives of our associates and fuels the business. She deeply values the power of a culture where every associate feels understood, cared for, valued and respected. With an associate-back mindset and partnership with Business leaders, Business resource groups, and associate insights, Ms. McDevitt-Jiulianti and her team are strengthening an open, engaging and transparent environment where all associates feel like they belong.
Ms. McDevitt-Jiulianti joined Capital One in 2000, as a front line manager in Credit Card operations. Over the course of her career at Capital One, she has held various leadership positions across Credit Card Operations, Collections, Brand Marketing, Process Engineering, Customer Acquisition and Management, Customer Experience Design, Customer Care Servicing and Big Data. Her leadership and expertise have driven innovation in operations strategy, customer experience and adaption of design thinking and product development. During her 18 years with Capital One, Ms. McDevitt-Jiulianti has always been a passionate advocate for advancing diversity and inclusion initiatives. She is influential in developing Capital One’s diversity recruiting, unconscious bias training and inclusive enterprise culture.
As an avid advocate for talent management and an active mentor, Ms. McDevitt-Jiulianti enjoys coaching and developing others through her engagement with the Business Resource Groups, her team members and associates she has met throughout her career.
Ms. McDevitt-Jiulianti was born in North Carolina, and has called Virginia home since her days in elementary school. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Virginia. Married for nine years, Ms. McDevitt-Jiulianti and her husband reside in Richmond, Virginia with their two children.
