Shireen Vakil is a child rights specialist with over 20 years of experience in the field of education , child protection , health and nutrition, with special interest in issues of gender equality. At Tata Trusts, Shireen heads Policy and Advocacy where she is responsible for advocacy strategy development across the core areas of the organisation such as education, nutrition, health, social exclusion and access to justice. Shireen works closely with governments and key stakeholders to ensure that policy is informed by research and practice. She writes frequently for leading newspapers and publications on issues related to child rights and gender.
Previously, she played a key role in setting up of Save the Children (India) and was responsible for developing the Advocacy, Campaigns and Communication function for the organisation.
Shireen holds a Master’s degree in Education and International Development from the Institute of Education (IOE), University College London (UCL).
