Mr. Rudolf is employed by Baptist Healthcare System, Inc., one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare systems in Kentucky. Baptist Health employs nearly 20,000 dedicated healthcare workers supporting more than 1,600 providers; 250 outpatient facilities, including outpatient diagnostic centers, primary care and specialty care physician practices, home health, occupational health clinics, express cares and urgent cares; and eight wholly owned acute-care hospitals with nearly 2,400 additional licensed beds combined in Paducah, Madisonville, Louisville, La Grange, Lexington, Corbin and Richmond, Kentucky and in New Albany, Indiana.
In addition, Baptist manages a 300-bed acute-care hospital in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Mr. Rudolf currently serves as system vice president, Human Resources with primary responsibility supporting Strategic Initiatives, such as mergers and acquisitions and special projects; Total Rewards, which include benefits, compensation, employee health and employee wellness; and Workforce Intelligence, including employee engagement, employee surveys and workforce planning. Prior to assuming this role in 2019, Mr. Rudolf served as system vice president, HR Operations (2015-2019), where he oversaw the move from silo-to-system of Baptist Health’s HR function, including the standardization of HR policies and procedures as well as oversight of day-to-day operations of Baptist’s acute care facilities. From 2012-2015, Mr. Rudolf served as vice president, Human Resources, for Baptist Health’s Kentuckiana region, which (at the time) included Baptist Health Louisville, Baptist Health La Grange, and Baptist Health Medical Associates. Mr. Rudolf joined Baptist Health in 2010 as vice president, Human Resources for Baptist Hospital East (now known as Baptist Health Louisville).
Prior to joining Baptist Health, Mr. Rudolf was employed by Hill-Rom Holdings, Inc., the leading manufacturer and provider of medical technologies and related services for the healthcare industry, employing more than 6,000 associates worldwide. In his last role with the company, Mr. Rudolf supported Hill-Rom’s Global Supply Chain and New Product Development divisions as executive director, Human Resources, providing HR and business support for approximately 2,000 Hill-Rom associates throughout the U.S., Europe, Mexico, China and Asia-Pacific. Prior to joining the Hill-Rom’s HR team, Mr. Rudolf served as senior Labor and Employment counsel for Hillenbrand Industries, Hill-Rom’s former parent company, supporting its worldwide operations. As such, he had responsibility for providing legal oversight for all employment and labor matters for Hillenbrand Industries and its operating subsidiaries, including: (i) providing legal and strategic counsel to executive, HR and management teams; (ii) ensuring the company’s compliance with all applicable legal obligations; (iii) developing policies, procedures and programs related to Human Resources; (iv) leading the company’s union-free efforts, as well as union relations, arbitration and collective bargaining efforts; (v) negotiating and enforcing employment-related agreements; (vi) managing all employment-related litigation; and (vii) supporting the company’s mergers and acquisitions activities.
Prior to joining Hillenbrand Industries, Mr. Rudolf was a partner with the Indianapolis-based law firm of Bose, McKinney & Evans and served as a member of its Labor and Employment Law Practice Group. He represented management clients in a wide variety of employment-related matters, including employee litigation, labor-management issues, employee handbooks, restrictive covenants, wage and hour issues, wrongful discharge and discrimination. Prior to that, he was a member of the law firm of Vedder, Price, Kaufman & Kammholz in Chicago.
Mr. Rudolf graduated from Boston University School of Law (JD, cum laude, 1989) and completed his undergraduate studies at Indiana University, Kelley School of Business (B.S. Finance, with distinction). Mr. Rudolf has served on several industry and workforce boards, including the Kentucky Individual Self-Insured Guaranty Fund (board member, 2019-present), Health Careers Collaborative of Greater Louisville (Executive Committee 2014-present/chair, 2018-present), KentuckianaWorks (board member, 2011-2016, Program Oversight Committee chair 2014-2016), and Kentucky Hospital Association Employer Consortium (member 2010-2014, treasurer, 2012-2104).
